MISS INDIA IRELAND 2008 WINNER ANNOUNCED

The Hope Foundation is delighted to announce 22-year-old Laila Ryan as Miss India Ireland 2008.


Laila who is from Rathfarnam will go forward to compete in the Miss India Worldwide competition, which is taking place from the 18th – 23rd of February in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The finals took place in Renards nightclub where Laila and three other contestants vied for the Miss India Ireland 2008 title. This glitzy affair began with a drink and food reception as guests mingled and excitement about meeting the contestants grew. Host Shay Dempsey then introduced the finalist, during which there were question and answer time. Yasmina Irish Dance entertained audiences, while the judges deliberated the winner. After, a stunned Laila Ryan was announced the outright winner.

During her time in Johannesburg, Laila will compete against 19 other girls from different countries. There will be four different segments in the competition – Questions & Answers, Indian Sari, Evening Gown and Talent. Laila, who beautiful, intelligent and talented, is delighted to have this opportunity not only to represent her Irish community but Ireland as well.

As part of her duties Laila is now ambassador for The Hope Foundation and will travel over to Calcutta during the year to see the work of HOPE.
